Losing Out on the Winner!

I hate to break Character with my Stats, but, Losing Out on The Winner, Neil Bonnett, is still a Big Loss in 2026. Where it started the not proud tradition of Indy Car or NASCAR Careers who'd miss the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I couldn't pretend where I was when Neil Bonnett passed, being a 2nd Grader at Prairie Elementary (Now Prairie Heights Elementary) as Mrs. Hunt brought from the Teacher's Lounge that Neil Bonnett passed away in a Practice Accident. That brought a Black Mark to an Otherwise Classic Speedweeks.

It is not anything new, and I wanted to be a Sports Broadcaster deep into High School until I was Forced to Work (Geinzer Family Lore, but, that is another discussion for another time), as my original goal was wanting to be AJ Foyt.

North Dakota State to the FBS Would Be No Laughing Matter!

North Dakota State Bison Football to the FBS Would Be No Laughing Matter! And, it would set Red Lines in the Sand and the Snow where I would want a Consolidated Division I Card Later On.

In the Mountain of Madness, I only see 4 of the Original Mountain 8 by this July 4th be Active Members and I hate to drain the "Because I'm Homer Simpson!" like a 3, I would not like Losing the Interstate Championships for North Dakota and South Dakota, either.

Also, amid other things, just because Northern Iowa would "My Maria" their way to a National Championship that has eluded them in my lifetime doesn't mean it should be a Duke Pass. The immediate reax in the FBS and FCS Ranks would send Shockwaves through the System.

I Don't See No NFL Equal to Grambling!

I do not like we'd settle on Robert Saleh for the Only Minority Hire in the NFL. But, having Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo free themselves of being Contenders quicker than Fantasia and her lack of money, is worrying.

I really hope Mr. Ryans would put his Texans in Super Bowl Contention as opposed to getting the Luv Ya Blue Monkey off his back. I don't think Mr. Ryans would strut with a Joe Willie Pea Coat and a Ranchers White Hat down the Sidelines like Bum Phillips, but, there is a Use It or Lose It Vibe around Houston.

What I don't see is No NFL Equal to Grambling, and that gets me mad. Even South Oak Cliff and Other Urban Powers have Strong African-American Heroes that are in the Community and Tony Dungy or Mike Tomlin didn't do that.

I'd like live on the Refuse to Lose like I didn't need a 24 on my Shirt. The bum steer is Lane Kiffin is Impulsive, but, I don't see a Higher Bar on a Merit Hire of a Minority, True Assistant or HBCU Product anywhere.

Are The 3 Lieutenants Due For Dismissal?

I do not like being the next Hound on Iowa Wrestling, but, you have to have a Reason to be a Hawkeye. The bum steer in Cedar Rapids and Points East is not only Iowa went flat against Penn State, but, worse yet, they went flat against Minnesota.

Scarier still, there is nobody else big supporting Wrestling, and 2021 would feel more Hollow on Iowa's Banner because there was not the Jeers and Roars of a Usual Iowa NCAA Title. The Levee Breaks and it is not pretty, especially when that became Carver Hawkeye Arena's Closeout Song.

What Morningstar and Brandses are not doing is pumping up Eastern Iowa. We'd botch Transfer Portals because we can, but, that makes the Registars Nervous as Hades. I don't thing Goetz is worth more than a 5 Year Contract because Where Iowa would struggle in is Reality.

Blue Collar Iowa would feel the Lack of Interest from the Taverns and it hurts. Nobody in Pacific Time has a Wrestling Program in Conference, Rutgers has No Role Models, and Iowa has No Excuses.

Besides Name Checking J. Cole and Alice In Chains, the Adventure of the Iowa Man and his Family has not been Wine and Roses. The nightmare that would occur is we'd be Outmonied and Shamed into a Hometown Hero being an Empty Zero elsewhere and Michigan Men do not like Bad Guys.

Cedar Rapids Washington Can't Hula their Way Out of Great Leadership

I do not like Cedar Rapids Washington's Leadership being Anonymous. And, they have been the Opposite of Iron Sharpens Iron and Steel Sharpens Steel for 30 Years and worse yet, their Chickens and Bad Habits are coming home to roost.

As a Southeast Side Resident and Citizen in the Lions Share of my 20's, it worries me that Education's Flagship is Hulaing their way out of Great Leadership. And the Arts Wing has Spread like Pollen to Other Places and Our Hard Earned Money Shows there, too.

What would be concerning is the Drop Out Rate in Cedar Rapids Community Schools is not helping and a Disproportionate Amount of that would be Concentrated on the Southeast Side. Getting a High School Diploma or GED would be a $30,000 Decision, but, many Adults or Young Adults do not have the Courage to Do That Even.

You can't Hula your Way Out of Great Leadership. And, it hurts Washington is nowhere in these Discussions. Not for the Older Alumni, but, for those of us in the Community actually worried about what is going on.

We would have never, ever been Rock and Roll High School around here. And, Private, Parochial, Preps shouldn't be too easy. They should be like a Car, where if you can't handle more Perks and Privileges, don't be Surprised that your responsibilities go Down.

And, worse yet, the Landscape would rudely Change where it would not be the most comfortable thing on the planet to have Washington,Jefferson, Kennedy and Xavier deal with Anamosa, Monticello, West Delaware and Independence among others.

3800th Post: Get Better at Racing Communications!

Fair Warning: Let's Get Better at Racing Communication! I hate that we'd shave our legs of Sweet Home Newton For No Good Reason (PS, There was One) and Settle for Creepy, Cranky Old DC! I am not mad at that move, but, I am madder at the timing.

Avoiding "The Talk" would be of Consequence Later, especially if you didn't have Religion or Family Ties. But, as a Man, Gentleman, and Racing Fan, it would be Teen Years since all the BB's where in the Same Box, and we don't have Mr. Royal to kick around.

What would we do without Mr. Penske? It would not just be a Detroit Issue, but a Racing Issue and we'd suck at making new Educators in Motorsports.

Kyle Larson would be Gravy, but, Kyle Larson is not an Effective Communicator. Rusty Wallace still is and he hasn't been in any Cup Car Veering 7,000 Days.

My regret with the 24 was not having anything rosier than "Just Go With It". In His (And His Lawyers Defense), that became a Rock Solid 25 Year Contract that couldn't be moved or toyed with.

Why is it Allen Fieldhouse is a Better Museum than Fieldhouse?

Why is it Allen Fieldhouse is a Better Museum than Fieldhouse? Cameron Indoor and Williams Arena do not have the same privilege. I feel Kansas dropped the Ball on the 1 with the Booth and I wanted to see a Running Track back in their House.

I would growl at the Lack of Commitment to Aging Facilities besides throw Money at them. I would not mind Modern Facilities, but, include everybody who wants to go.

Allen Fieldhouse always is in a Battle between Students and Alumni Season Ticket Holders. One thing the Fieldhouse is knocked for is being too Old Fashioned and there are other Arena Style Campus Facilities that have equally as short of a future.

There'd be No Debate Myles Rowe would be 1st Pick, but, I'd still feel Upset for Jett Lawrence being Hurt over Christmas

2026 Commissioner's Classic Slate

Without Further Ado, here is my 2026 College Football Commissioner's Classic Slate:

August 19th

Grand View (IA) at Hawaii

I'd save Indiana for the Revival Barrel for Good Reason as they'd do something Not Even Baylor did: Win the National Championship!

August 20th

Florida @ Virginia Tech

I would start with a Pair of Thursday Night Classic Venues, as Beamerball usually does not like being at Home to Start a Season and

Virginia @ Ole Miss

It would be the First Chance to see Victory in Virginia's Belt Defense and the First Regular Season Chance to see Pete Golding helm the Rebels

August 22nd

Yale @ Drake

I would helm Yale and the Ivy League in the Summer and what no better place to helm them is at Drake Stadium and

Fresno State @ Grambling

I would be Heavy on the Y2K Vibes because I would have gone to High School at that Time Period (Actually Became Student Body Later in 2000), but, I would Flip the Field for Grambling instead of Fresno State

October 25th

Hawaii @ Mt. Union (OH)

Tennessee @ Indiana

Texas Tech @ Texas A and M

Texas @ Baylor

W. Virginia @ Rutgers

November 3rd "Referendum Day"

Indiana @ Kentucky

Minnesota @ MN-Duluth

St. John's (MN) @ St. Thomas (MN)

Drake @ Grand View

SMU @ Texas

November 10th

Missouri vs. Illinois @ St. Louis

Iowa @ Drake

Minnesota @ St. Thomas (MN)

Oregon @ Boise State

Alabama @ Miami (FL)

November 17th

Iowa @ Missouri

SMU vs. Arkansas @ Little Rock

N. Illinois @ S. Illinois

Illinois @ Kansas

Valdosta State @ Florida

Paul Levesque is Subverting Bud Wilkinson's Work!

I hate that Triple H is subverting Bud Wilkinson's Work on the Presidential Committee on Physical Fitness. For one thing, Bud Wilkinson emphasized the Physical in Physical Fitness to the Point we had to put a Stop to It.

And, currently, we do not know or want to know what to do. That is scary, and what is scarier is having Do Nothings cushion the Blow of the Lack of Public Service.

The lack of Public Service is damaging to our Society. For every Earned Hat, I'd see someone else Bark about the Civil War like they have No Sense of Off Hours. We'd have Olympic Things, but, what is worrying is even if I had Family in WWE or AEW, the Worry is are they going to do enough of a Job to Merit a Shirt or Hat?

I would feel in the Mud of the Swamp, and not the Florida Kind, either, it is infuriating that we'd have every Crook and Chase run to DC. Physical Education is meant to be Physical and Education, not Violent and Education.

Certainly, having too many Willies would Liberate Our Tax Dollars and Problem Solving Skills big time.

Potential Commissioner's Classic Announcement

My Public Service Announcement for the College Football Commissioner's Classic is if Miami (FL) Wins Next Monday, the Slate will be Complete with Miami (FL) at Hawaii. Should Miami (FL) Lose, the Stand In for the Season Opener is Grand View (IA)

I would not like throwing in Indiana because I am giving the Revival Barrel another Lap, and there where some key Links In the Chain I'd Threw Out, because Nebraska's Stability, Iowa State, Kansas State and Notre Dame Jilting the Bowls, and Memphis Hiring Charles Huff.

If Charles Huff would have been the Guy After Saban, he'd get Grief and then Some in Alabama. But, he Maxed Out Marshall and Southern Miss to their Limits, both Highly Respected Football Programs.

Happy New Year!

What I'd like to say is Happy New Year! Amid other things, I will Bulk Up my Comms, especially with The Driver of the Year, Drivers Championship, and the Stock Car Challenge in Actual Space. As an aside, I'd always feel funny, not Ha Ha in Steve Evans Voice, but, funny about Someone in How they'd Be Remembered if the End was not Cloudy or Trumped Up.

I would not like rolling out into another That '70's Era, especially if Mom and Dad and Others lived through the Wild Wests of those Afformentioned Seasons. What I couldn't shake is not having a Year where Atlanta and Charlotte where allowed to be Atlanta and Charlotte with either Bruton Smith or Humpy Wheeler.

I'd be 7 Months into my 40's, and the Fixtures that you don't think about that go away would drive me Bananas, and that would have Nothing to Do With Savannah. I would have a Better Chance winning the Iowa Lottery than Winning Banana Ball.

But, one thing I hate in Athletic Departments is Making Money like Mom and Dad, especially if it is not in the Right Areas. I would bark up and down for an Olympic Movement like the 1960's and 1970's, but, that would not always come to fruition, as Education is a Personal Investment in Someone's Future and not taking it seriously enough is Dangerous in So Many Ways.

Losing Out on the Winner!

I hate to break Character with my Stats, but, Losing Out on The Winner, Neil Bonnett, is still a Big Loss in 2026. Where it started the not...
