I feel mad Western College Football is cosmically embarassing at this moment, because there is nowhere near enough Colleges on the Western End of the Continent it is not good. If Gonzaga started College Football back up tomorrow, it would take Western College Sports up a few more levels than it has en masse.
And, the behind the scenes mayhem has made some of these Late Night Games Unwatchable. It isn't like you have anyone a year away, and heaven forbid, if it comes down to a pushoff further East because being territoral, it would redouble the recruiting bids.
You don't have Star Students, or Star Student Athletes in reach in the Western United States. And, what I'd feel the most peeved at, is why it keeps coming up where even the Best in the West keep coming up Small against non Continental Foes?
The built in excuses that enable the shrinkage of quality are not a laughing matter. And, if Auburn had to make the trek to Seattle to play Washington instead of making the Trek to Jordan Hare or Mercedes Benz Stadium, I'd doubt there'd be that magic in return.
And, nobody wants to get started on being classlessly preempted for any reason. And, I feel there is not enough push to go play Berkeley without looking foolish back East. And, it's all a wash when at best, you settle down into a perennial 8-4 like it was West Virginia.
