I feel like having to poke the bear over what would an Armstrong State/Georgia Southern Merger would entail beyond cash. It would give the consolidated institution Georgia Enrollment, which would inflate enrollment temporaily, but, they'd try to command Georgia Bucks like Athens, which would misfire badly.
I think the IAA, or the Football Championship Subdivision, would not have a long future. And, having to operate like the IAA is not an option would be a stark and an obvious reality in the term future. If we called everyone in Football Division I, we'd have to iron out everything from Playoffs to Non-Conference and then some.
And, not having an Armstrong State would free up one less 4 Year College Option. If we ran on a 2nd 60 Percent more enrollment and people around our College Communities, it would be confusing who is wheat and who is chaff.
And, with it being a direct merger, there'd be no pay to hold like the University of Iowa did with AIB's Campus. And, having one less educational option is a psychological ruin, much less a root, and having Prop 48 Reopened again in a big way would not be good for anyone.
And, the booked until 2024 excuse is not working in this case. If University is a city, other key parts of actual city has become a labyrinth.
