I feel in response to the Sumner-Vashon Twin Homecoming, let's keep on truckin' and have a St. Louis Sumner vs. St. Louis Vashon: The Historical Society. The only reason I see a Historical Society for this rivalry is to have a gateway to Grambling or other HBCUs and a social gateway for a rivalry society.
I still feel the same 1960s, 1970s and Early 1980s Alumnuses put core money into both schools, but, the reality is, it is not forever like our Country Stars worth our timelessness. And, we can play forever, but, I feel that there can't just be the Same Old Core.
Even though St. Louis Public Schools have failed a lot of these boarded up bastions of academia and the students and their parents now have failed them all the way back. Frankly, I feel that it would take more than the St. Louis Missouri-Illinois Metro to keep Vashon and Sumner from hitting the dumpster unceremoniously.
Reality is, can we allow ourselves to let half of America's Safe Harbor get ripped out from under them? I don't think any of our leadership has an attitude to lend lifesavers, let alone megayachts, to the city. I feel this would be a Prairie View A and M League Reunion, except it be outside of Texas, and we need to honor our elders who had a proper floor and books, not just lower to Black Exploitation by shutting out the great voices of the inner city like we are stuck in.
