With Columbus being one of the Founding Cities of Major (Minor) League Soccer and one of the unpleasant side effects of the United States Men's Soccer National Team is basing the Columbus Crew at the University of Texas, and even though I want to see United States Soccer impose and force its will on the World, but, the club structure is tragically memorably devasting.
It smells like the Albany Firebirds moving, and when they tried to lend the Indiana Firebirds a wing, nobody seemed to be troubled to care. And, for beer money, this league wants to put a team everywhere, even in Glendive, Montana, good judgment be thrown out the door.
What doesn't work for MLS at this time, or maybe ever, is equity. If Jim Irsay or Jimmy Haslam wanting to put up MLS Tentpoles, that means RUN! And, are we going to win 60-0 just to get our corndogs?
Efficiency is all its parts. What is not fashionable is why is it people care about the bottom line more than the W-L-T be balanced in Minor League Soccer? If countries that aren't powerful in Soccer get MLS players for loss leader dollars, it would not look good.
