I want to dig into the complexity of the 1980s TV in a rare Classic Hollywood Car Ride and not just the ooey-gooeyness of the postmodern sales. I want to begin with the actual Hill Street in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania still is not over the cancellation of their show 30 Years Later.
To the actual neighborhood, its their show. And, even though it was never filmed on the actual Hill Street, but, it didn't stop them from claiming it as their show. And, what makes actual Hill Street residents angry is being openendedly mocked at the end of the TV Season, especially when it was one of the last serial episodes to "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" in the Simpsons.
The actual Hill Street is a very deep and complex neighborhood. Even though I am not saying anything new, that is not already spoken or typed, but, I don't think anyone else did script arcs as great as Hill Street Blues, not the Simpsons or anyone else in a more than 2 Episode arc.
What is granted in granite is if we are to do our Septembers greater again, have quality or higher scriptwriting. Both are hung out to dry and then some, as I feel the scriptwriting art is lost to the scriptwriting brand, which robs better story art.
