Would the NBA have to draw the line at Non-Player Number Retirements?

I feel like as a rational, conservative Sports Fan who realizes Odell is not going to surpass Jerry Rice, let alone be in Canton, I would feel that the NBA would have to draw the line at Non-Player Number Retirements.

Other than Oklahoma State not issuing a 10 Ever Again for the Cowboy 10, this Hot Line would be not issuing a 2 for Gianna Bryant, and she did not play High School, College, WNBA or Other Women's Basketball and not issuing a 9 for the 9 that where lost with Kobe.

2 and 24 De-Issuance would cause confusion and fury to Buddy Parrott and Ruining a Mountain Top in Sports History and changing Sports History Forever. 9 Would be the 1st WNBA Game in League History at the Still Active Predecessor, the Great Western Forum.

I don't see other than the Supersonics not issuing a 6 for the 6th Man, and that would be the only example. There is so much you can put on a Jersey and I'd parse that out.

I'd feel any of those Numbers would need explicit permission to be used in the future. And, explicit permission can and will be revoked at any time.
