Freeing up Sloan Wallace Stadium in Waterloo, Iowa will haunt Waterloo. It's heyday was home to Race Riots, Nationally Televised Games, Battles of Waterloo that didn't involve scorn or mockery, and even Waterloo Officials getting mad that Newton ran up the Score in the 1970's, but, Waterloo Officials getting mad that Newton's Crowd outnumbered a Generally and Still Rabid and Huge Waterloo East Crowd.
The haunting is worse than losing the Diamonds, and we'd need the Diamonds for Minor League Baseball Expansion rather than having to steal someone else's team. McElroy is Hanging On and Hanging On, and Waterloo as a Community has had a habit of keeping facilities past their prime.
It was not just Nationally Televised Games in the Middle of the Map, but, National Newsworthy Games, before such a thing existed. Waterloo is the epitome of "Fight to Win" and that comes back to haunt them.
Northern Iowa's First Night Game was at Sloan Wallace and its Latter Day Equal, Waterloo Memorial, was home to a Couple Panthers Games in 1998 when the UNI-Dome's Roof was being replaced.
